Following a brief trip to England in 1968 which was cut short by visa problems, The Nazz recorded a huge batch of songs that Todd Rundgren had written, with a view to their second release being a double album. The record company had other ideas, and so cherry-picked the best tracks and released them as 'Nazz Nazz' in 1969. Disillusioned by this interference, Todd quit the band, followed shortly afterwards by Carson Van Osten. In 1971 the record company dug out the tapes and complied them into 'Nazz III', which they then released without the band's permission. Todd had recorded demos for a lot of these songs, but as Robert Stewkey, was the lead singer with the band I've used his versions so that they tie in with the rest of the songs on the album.
