Blind Faith - Blind Faith II (1969)

A second Blind Faith album has always been notoriously difficult to piece together, as although the band spent hours in the studio recording, they only ended up with a couple of actual songs and a load of rambling instrumental jams. One of these was actually released as a single as a promotional item by Island Records, announcing the fact that they were moving their offices. Titled 'Change Of Address From 23 June 1969', the one-sided promo featured an instrumental jam by the group which was not mentioned on the label, (the only other label info is the new address, phone number, and new cable address of Island), and it's thought that around 500 copies of the single were pressed, mostly sent to UK disc jockeys and other music industry insiders. The other completed songs were two versions of Sammy Myers' 'Sleeping In The Ground', and an instrumental entitled 'Time Winds'. To make up a possible second album I've taken four of the long jam sessions and edited them down to include the best five to six minute section of each, and titled them around the band's name. By adding in an electric version of 'Can't Find My Way Back Home', a great version of 'Under My Thumb' from the Hyde Park concert, and a couple of tracks recorded for a proposed Ric Grech solo album, we end up with a 55 minute disc of Blind Faith music - admittedly not one of my best reconstructions due to the lack of finished material, but you still get to hear some fine playing from Clapton, Winwood, Grech and Baker, (and George Harrison on 'Exchange And Mart' and 'Spending All My Days'), so it's worth a listen at the very least.
