Procol Harum - Homburg (1967-1970)

A passing reference in the 'Wonderous Stories' book made me think that I could probably compile a similar collection to the Moodies post for Procol Harum, as I know that they had a couple of non-album b-sides in the 60's, and so a little digging has turned up a nice 12 track compilation of rarities from them. I've titled it 'Homburg' after the non-album single that they released in 1967, as it's always been a favourite.

Track listing

01 Homburg (1967 single)
02 Lime Street Blues (b-side to 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale')
03 Monsieur Armand (1967 out-take)
04 Seem To Have The Blues (Mostly All The Time) (1967 out-take)
05 Alpha (1968 out-take)
06 Il Tuo Diamante (1968 Italian single - 'Quite Rightly So')
07 Fortuna (1968 Italian b-side - 'Repent Walpurgis')
08 In The Wee Small Hours Of Sixpence (1968 single)
09 Long Gone Geek (b-side to 'A Salty Dog')
10 McGreggor (1969 out-take)
11 Go Go Go (Move On Down The Line) (1970 out-take)
12 A Whiter Shade Of Pale (long stereo version)

Some of these tracks remind you just what a rocking band Procol Harum could be - after all, they did have Robin Trower on lead guitar!

  1. Yep. Procol Harum too. Whiter Shade of Pale is one of my favorite songs of ALL time. I am a Trower fan too. But their new guitarist Geoff Whitehorn is really good too. Thanks again.
