Cerrone - Supernatural Paradise Of Love (1978)

As French 70's disco star Marc Cerrone is currently in the news for releasing a new socially conscious, exploratory album with 'DNA', I thought that it was timely to post a mix that I'd made of his most famous disco hits of the 70's. His most successful period was between 1976 and 1978, when he fused the emergent disco beat (he was an accomplished drummer, so knew exactly how important that beat was) with lush orchestration, overlaid with sumptuous female vocals. Later in his career he chose to sing the songs himself, and I don't think those records ever matched his early successes, so this mix concentrates on those first two years of his music career, including the classic 'Supernature', with lyrics by the soon to be famous indie-popster Lena Lovich. Like my three Donna Summer posts, this is just me playing around with some free audio software that I have, to mix together some of his 7" and extended 12" singles, and so while it's not perfect, it is a good way to hear all of his biggest records in one disco-tastic 40-minute piece of music.

  1. Sounds like the soundtrack to a sleezy 1970s movie starring Joan Collins. Brilliant!
