To coincide with the release of a new album by the band, here's a collections of early, hard to find songs from Mumford & Sons, some of which were issued at the start of the band's career on singles and EP's before they hit the big-time with their 'Sigh No More' album, and a few were tucked away on the b-sides of some of their later singles. I've always had a fondness for the band, as there's too little folk music that gets into the mainstream charts these days, and so if was refreshing to hear their take on the genre, bringing it to an audience that might have never heard the real thing from bands such as Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span, and I hope that it prompted some of them to check out the inspirations that formed the Mumford's sound.
