Roy Wood - Instrumental In His Success (1982)

Roy Wood has had a hugely influential career that's spanned over 50 years, being involved with The Move, The Electric Light Orchestra, Wizzard, and The Wizzo Band, as well as having a string of solo hit singles in the 70's. I used to buy all his singles, and soon came to realise that he didn't stint on value, as there was always a fantastic instrumental track on the b-side. Some of them have stuck with me all these years later, and so I decided to gather them all together into one mostly instrumental collection.

Track listing

01 The Carlsberg Special (b-side to Wizzard's 'Ball Park Incident')
02 Music To Commit Suicide By (b-side to 'Forever')
03 Bend Over Beethoven (b-side to Wizzard's 'See My Baby Jive')
04 The Premium Bond Theme (b-side to 'Goin' Down The Road')
05 Rob Roy's Nightmare (A Bit More H.A.) (b-side to Wizzard's 'I Wish It Could Be
                                                                                                      Christmas Everyday')
06 Dream Of Unwin (b-side to Wizzard's 'Rock n' Roll Winter')
07 Nixture (b-side to Wizzard's 'This Is The Story Of My Love (Baby)')
08 Marathon Man (b-side to Wizzard's 'Are You Ready To Rock')
09 Bengal Jig (b-side to 'Oh What A Shame')
10 Strider (b-side of 'Look Thru The Eyes Of A Fool')
11 The Thing Is This (This Is The Thing) (b-side to Wizzard's 'Indiana Rainbow')
12 Jubilee (b-side to The Wizzo Band's 'The Stroll')

  1. Hi,
This is one album I've always wanted to compile, and now you have. I would have added "First Movement (Jumping Biz)" the b-side to 10538 Overture, admittedly it was on the 1st ELO album, but it does thematically fit here.

    Anyway, Cheers!

  2. And Roy too. I must have the same taste as you. Roy is one of the greatest unsung geniuses of Rock music. Criminally ignored and should have been as big or bigger than ELO after he left. BOULDERS is one of the greatest unknown records of the seventies.
